As part of a release strategy for his debut single, Macul decided to not put money into social media ads like so many artists do, but instead count on people sharing and pre-saving his single to turn all that investment into real donations to "Associação Anhumas Quero-quero" in his hometown in Brazil.
"I was about to create my first social media ad campaign, when I realised that this money could be much better spent, somehow. So I thought I'd much rather invest in people's good will of sharing and supporting my music and by just doing that, providing some sort of relief and joy to those kids."
This delightful surprise, desperately needed in 2021, marks the genre-fluid singer Macul’s soft-début. Brazilian-born and now based in Germany, Murilo Macul has always had a passion for expressing himself with music. Composing and writing from an early age, he ****has turned his Brazilian heritage and appreciation for funky, joyous tunes into an 8-10 month release sequence of free-flowing, feel-good vibes with surprising genre twists and catchy choruses.
His experience on stage began in musical theatre and navigated through from cover bands all the way to 2012 when he was invited to lead the Brazilian indie-rock band João e os Poetas de Cabelo Solto on a second album recording and a German-wide tour.

is a song about the detachment from fears and the catalysis from inner courage to face the letting go process and experience the new. In a more friendly way: it's a song about change. Change that we all go through and that could be reminded of sometimes.

This new phase represents the birth of the artist within a normal human being.
Throughout all these years Macul needed to conjure all courage and maturity in order to put out his best work yet out there. That's exactly what his debut single "Something New" sounds like.
Produced in Munich together with the super talented Sebastian Gampl, the upcoming work from Macul promises to bring a bit of joy to our days and we can't wait to hear more from it.
